Excel Resource Planning Template

The resource capacity planning template is developed using Microsoft Excel and is available to download. Please note it does not work with Mac OS.

This excel template can be used to perform capacity planning based on

- resources,

- teams,

- Locations,

- Resource type FTE or Contingent,

- Projects, Roles (Skills), Date range.

This will also calculate and display the total cost segregated in Capex and Opex cost or you can chose to define your own categorization.

Start entering your data in the master sheet and the data sheet. You do not need to enter anything anywhere else.

There is no limit on projects/resources/skills and date ranges.

PS. I have added a new version V4 that uses timeline slicer instead of date and month slicers. You can use either one. I have added V6 that has an extra graph to show resource leveling based on time.

V7 Enhancements: Added two new fields at employee master level

1. Added one field for Line Manager so that you can filter based on the line manager.

2. Added one field for Supplier of your resource that you can filter.

This works in Excel 365 and 2016 and older version. This may not work properly on shared drives as they do not allow backend query to run.
